The foundation of AudioElixir is a based on a combination of three disciplines:
3D Sound Technology; Neuroscience; and Sound Therapy.
The human auditory mechanism is designed to perceive sounds originating from all directions, not just from one direction, as is our experience with stereo sound. We naturally process audio as a spatially immersive sound-field with directional cues as well as information such as surface reflections and distance. 3D audio refers to a technique of using specialized software and spherical array of speakers to re-create an immersive sound-field that mimics the way we hear naturally. It enables a producer to position and move sound elements around the listener from any direction. Learn More >>
3D sound technology has great value for therapeutic listening. 3D sound technology creates a much more natural listening experience in a format closer to our native way of hearing. We psychologically relate to our outer world through an auditory 'scene' constructed through our perception of sound. Audio produced using 3D techniques can allow the aspects of an audio composition to penetrate deeper into mind and psyche. 3D sound technology also introduces a production and composition medium with profound new possibilities. The ability to work with the ear/brain functions of auditory localization and spatial tracking is a key access point for the effectiveness of the AudioElixir experience.
AudioElixir uses sound in a scientific manor to shift brainwaves activity for therapeutic benefits. The brain and consciousness are domains that we really don't know much about scientifically, relatively speaking. So it is difficult to make hard claims about cause and effect relationships when comes to brain functions. Though, from a holistic and systemic lens we do know that there are measurable correlations among brainwave activity, states of consciousness, and biophysical functions, as well as psychological and mental states. Its all related. There are many entry points to feel better, be happier, and increase performance, but at the root of all our thoughts, emotions and behaviors is the communication between neurons within our brains.
Neurons communicate via electrical impulses. The patterns of synchronized electrical activity among the billions of neurons communicating are referred to as brainwaves. Neurons are electrochemically triggered to release certain neurotransmitters and hormones at different brainwave frequencies. Brainwaves frequencies are in divided into different bandwidths, or brainwave states (gamma, beta, alpha, theta, delta) which correlate to states of consciousness experienced such as deep sleep, meditation, or focused concentration. Our brainwave patterns change according to what we’re doing and feeling.
Research has shown that the rate of brainwave patterns can by influenced by an external stimulus, such as sound. Thus, by evoking certain brainwave activity via an external input, you can experience shifts in your mind and body.
The AudioElixir experience is designed to evoke a brainwave state correlated to a meditative state of consciousness (like that of a Zen Monk) characterized by dominant theta brainwaves. Theta waves are instrumental in the release of serotonin, DHEA, melatonin, as well as the reduction of cortisol levels, and release of beta endorphins.
The discipline and holistic wellness modality of Sound Therapy is founded on the premise that all matter is vibrating at specific frequencies. Science has proven that sound, or vibration, has a strong impact upon substance. For example, the study of Cymatics has shown how sound creates geometric patterns in matter. Dr. Emoto has proven that sound changes the molecular structure of water. Sound has been proven as an affective modality for addressing many health concerns. Sound also changes consciousness. Many ancient civilizations and modern indigenous cultures have used sound to heal and access higher levels of consciousness for thousands of years. There are many different techniques and methods for using sound in this way. AudioElixir integrates several techniques drawn from the holistic wellness modality of sound healing.
